Due to our recent increase in workload we are seeking a reliable, self-motivated individual for the position of Geo-environmental Scientist reporting to the Director of Contaminated Land.  This is an ideal opportunity to develop your skills in a small to medium size company and provide added value to the existing team.

The successful candidate will have an excellent academic background with relevant degree qualifications.  Experience in the contaminated land industry is required.
The following experience will be required:

  • Phase 1 desk studies.
  • Phase 2 site investigations: scoping, undertaking and writing factual and technical reports.
  • Risk assessment on contamination datasets: includes Tier 1 assessments, statistics and basic modelling in line with UK guidelines.
  • Running small projects.
  • Writing basic quotes.
  • Client and regulatory liaison.
  • Mentor junior staff.

Any candidate must be able to demonstrate the following abilities:

  • Work well within a team and other colleagues / sub-contractors.
  • Plan works, arrange and manage site investigation.
  • Willingness to occasionally work away from home.
  • Good communicator in written and verbal skills.
  • Good computer skills and Microsoft applications.
  • Problem solver and lateral thinker.
  • Maintain client relationship.
  • Full UK driving license.

The position is for a Geo-environmental Engineer/Scientist reporting to the Director of Contaminated Land.

This is an ideal opportunity to develop your skills in a small to medium size company and provide added value to the existing team.

The successful candidate will have an excellent academic background with relevant degree qualifications. Minimum 5 years’ experience in the contaminated land industry is required.

The following experience will be required:

  • Phase 1 desk studies.
  • Phase 2 site investigations: scoping, undertaking and writing factual and technical interpretative reports.
  • Risk assessment on contamination datasets: includes Tier 1 assessments, statistics and basic modelling in line with UK guidelines.
  • Site investigation design.
  • Running small projects.
  • Writing quotes.
  • Client and regulatory liaison.
  • Mentor junior staff.

Additional experience in the following areas would be of significant benefit, but not essential to the application:

  • Understanding of soil mechanics.
  • Foundation design (including plot by plot detailed foundation plans).
  • Infrastructure and pavement design.
  • Slope stability.
  • Hydrogeological understanding with modelling experience.

Any candidate must be able to demonstrate the following abilities:

  • Work well within a team and other colleagues / sub-contractors.
  • Plan works, arrange and manage site investigation.
  • Have or be willing to learn high level support with regards to geotechnical matters.
  • Willingness to occasionally work away from home.
  • Good communicator in written and verbal skills.
  • Good computer skills and Microsoft applications.
  • Problem solver and lateral thinker.
  • Maintain client relationship.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Chartered in a relevant discipline or working towards chartership.

Dutes (after training) will include:
