Due to our continued growth and client demand, we have the opportunity for a self-motivated individual for the position of Principal Flood Risk Consultant, reporting to the Head of Section for the Ground Investigation team.  

As Principal Flood Risk Consultant, you will support the Head of the Section to achieve our goals in support of The LK Group Business Plan concerning the Flood Risk and Sustainable Drainage Assessment capability element of our business. 

The role requires direct contact with clients and regulators and management of varied and challenging projects within this growing division of our multidisciplinary consultancy. This is an opportunity to develop your technical skills and strategic and commercial capabilities in a unique company. You will play your part in the wider team, by supporting our client-side project management consultancy and land remediation contracting sections.

Responsibilities & Requirements:

Responsibilities  

  • Fee proposals – bid/tender preparation and fee proposals for both existing and new clients. 
  • Client and regulator liaison – liaison with clients, architects, contractors, and regulatory/statutory authorities. Attendance at both client and regulatory meetings. 
  • Report writing – writing and reviewing Flood Risk Assessments and SuDS Assessments. 
  • Business Development – research and business development of potential new clients and development of the Flood Risk and Drainage Team. 
  • Project Management – Operating across a range of projects; work winning, budgetary control of project finances, liaison with wider team to carry out onsite work, site inspections and progress reporting. 
  • Mentor and Training – training and development of junior staff. The company also support self-development and staff are encouraged and supported to apply for chartership in their field. 

 Requirements  

  • Strong bachelor’s degree. An additional higher degree would also be an advantage. 
  • Well-established consultancy or industry experience in Flood Risk Assessments and SuDS Assessments. 
  • Substantial experience in undertaking Flood Risk Assessments in accordance with NPPF (and/or TAN 15). 
  • A good understanding of the workings of the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, and Lead Local Flood Authorities 
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current planning policies and procedures and how these can be utilised to maximise the level of service offered to our clients whilst gaining required approvals. 
  • High motivation for this specific opportunity. 
  • Self-motivated team player with exceptional people skills. 
  • Ability to work under own initiative while fully co-ordinating with line manager’s requirements. 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Full UK driving licence.
