A 12-strong team from The LK Group, took on the gruelling 26-mile walking challenge this weekend to raise money for Cancer Research, a charity close to the Group’s heart. Specifically, we were Tackling Yorkshire Three Peaks for this noble cause.

The team climbed Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in under 14 hours. It was, in short, an amazing achievement, especially on the hottest day of the year, with temperatures soaring beyond 30°C.

Tackling Yorkshire Three Peaks to Raise Thousands

So far, the team is raising more than £5,000 for Cancer Research, including a £2,000 donation from Directors at The LK Group.

A significant amount of training over several months has gone into the 26-mile challenge, with the team completing weekend walks totalling 75 miles over a variety of locations including Holcombe Hill, Pendle Hill and Whitworth Skyline. In addition, it took place in mostly cold and rainy conditions, with limited visibility.

Rosie Cummings who took part in the challenge let us know how the day went. “It was a long, tough walk and the hot, humid conditions increased the challenge. We had a few tears and tantrums along the way, but everyone made it to the finish, which was a fantastic achievement. A great team effort.”

PJ Leyden, chairman of The LK Group commented to say:

“On behalf of The LK Group, I would like to say how proud we are of the team who took part and those who supported this walk. Through sheer hard work and dedication over the past few months, you have raised an impressive amount of money for a cause that we all feel passionate about. Well done team.”
